NYFW Style Soiree

This past Friday I was invited to an awesome event hosted by Stylinity and Lulu Frost for NYFW! If you don’t know who Stylinity is, they’re a great platform that makes social media shoppable. They connect bloggers, influencers, and brands to create great social content you can shop!

This Style Soiree was the perfect destination to rest, relax and recharge in between fashion shows. We got to mingle with other bloggers, like Gergana of Fashion is my Forte, and supermodel Veronica Webb. We also got a sneak peek into the latest spring collections from Lulu Frost, Raen, and Shoe b.

I had such an awesome time drinking champagne, snacking on cupcakes and getting to meet other stylish girls in the industry! Here’s a few photos from the event.

The Interviewer Wears Prada-What to Wear on an Interview

So you’ve got a job interview, and you’re thinking what am I going to wear? Yes, it’s your personality and skills that matter, but your appearance is often what your interviewer will first notice- and it can go a long way in showing them that you’re professional, ambitious, and most importantly a great fit for the company.

There’s not one approach for what to wear. From your jacket to shoes to even your accessories, you’ll want to consider the culture of the place your applying to.

I’m a recent fashion graduate from FIT. I’ve been going on interviews a lot lately. It’s difficult to know what to wear when you’re gunning for a fashion industry job where the employees look more like gucci models than gap outfitted cubical dwellers.  You’re going to have to dress the part, dressing too stuffy and corporate will not get you the job. You must dress polished and professional but still fun.

I decided to take a usual corporate look and make it more trendy. I found a basic white button down with a fun bow detail in the front. For my pants I went with a navy color instead of black that had a great flower detail on the hem. I stayed classic with nude pumps and trench coat and also added a cute pearl choker!

Above all you want to target the job you’re applying for. Having a killer look might not get you the job, but it’ll make sure you stay in the running.

How to Rock your Old Graphic Tee

It’s time to pull out that old concert shirt or that super soft graphic tee that’s been buried at the bottom of your drawer. The street style look is giving the beloved top new life with fresh styling tricks, like tucking it into high wasted denim. We’ve all been stuck in a style quandary once or twice, how many times have your thought “I have nothing to wear” A cool graphic tee can solve that problem with a little creativity! Here I decided to style mine with multiple layering. I chose a plaid shirt and a basic black bomber jacket, toping it off with moto jeans and classic white converse. My tee has the message “coffee loves me” written on it with a hole by the neck for an edgier look!

The Need for Tweed

It’s time to forget everything you thought you knew about tweed. Made for fall/winter, this material has been worn for centuries and is by far one of my favorite fabrics. It’s so unique yet versatile and comes in different cuts and designs to reflect modern day styles. This season tweed is more downtown than Downtown Abbey.

I instantly fell in love with this adorable tweed top I saw in Zara. The frayed edges add great dimension too. When I was styling this outfit I wanted it to be monochromatic with a stand out color. I decided to pair the top with matching black jeans, a black hat and bag and deep burgundy booties. Since tweed has a generally more of an old school style it’s important to pair it with more modern pieces like these ripped jeans. This look was perfect for my dinner out with the girls!

Off the Shoulder Sweater

I couldn’t get enough of off the shoulder tops throughout the summer and fall. I wanted to bring that style into the winter. While interning for Rebecca Minkoff I picked up this cozy off the shoulder sweater! This sweater is so versatile, I paired it with my favorite Rebecca Minkoff jeans and a pair of cute booties, an easy look for a day of shopping or lunch with the girls.
